All purpose cleaner (I like using Simple Green)
Before applying a protectant, it is important to have a clean surface. This will allow the product to bond better and to last a longer time.
If the interior trim has been maintained and is in a relatively clean condition, a simple dusting with a microfiber will be enough.
If the dust is difficult to remove or the trim has stains (such as coffee in the cupholder or mud near the doors) it will be necessary to use an all purpose cleaner. In this case, it is recommended to use an assortment of brushes to reach all the junk. Simply spray, agitate and wipe. Repeat as needed. I like to use Simple Green, diluted 10:1 for most of the car, and diluted 2:1 for tougher areas. Unless the trim is brittle, you should have no fear scrubbing.
Now the interior is ready to be dressed! Personally, I prefer to use Meguiar's natural shine protectant. It is more of a matte finish. Simply fold a microfiber cloth and spray into the cloth. I recommend not spraying onto the dashboard itself, as you may get over spray on the windshield and just more to clean.
Also: do not spray or apply on the steering wheel or the pedals!! It might make the surface slippery and that would be very dangerous while driving.
A clean dashboard and trim brings the interior together. It also protects your car's dashboard from cracking. Keep your car clean and protected this summer!
