The paint receives a clay bar treatment to remove any debris stuck on the paint. This is a very important step to ensure that the wax adheres as well as possible.
Note: A synthetic clay mitt is very safe but may not remove heavy contaminants like tar, heavy iron or tree sap. If your car has any of the previously mentioned, please out our Old School Detail Service.
Rubbing compound can stain plastic and rubber trim. Therefore, we carefully tape off all of these areas.
When compounding or polishing a car, a small layer of clear coat is removed from the top. This helps remove swirl marks caused by car washes or other elements that our vehicles are exposed to. It may also reduce the appearance of heavier scratches by even out the clear coat around it.
A two step correction is especially recommended for cars with harder paint or cars that go through brush car washes. German cars also tend to have harder paint, even when new.
The compounding is followed by a finishing polish to bring out even more gloss from the paint. Finally, the car is waxed to seal in and protect the paint.
