What you'll need:
Brushes
Interior Carpet Cleaner
APC
Vacuum
Microfiber clothes
The amount of effort it takes to clean a carpet will vary by condition and material.
Start by removing any large debris: old receipts, coins, napkins, that old fry you dropped and then it disappeared.
Now you may start to vacuum the carpet using a wide attachment. This is will get most of the visible dirt on your carpets.
At this point, you might be satisfied with the results. If the car is regularly washed, it is probably enough.
However, if it has been some time since the last deep cleaning, now it is time to go a bit further.
Start by spraying an interior carpet cleaner. Many of these have a strong odor, so it is best to have the doors open. Let it sit for a couple of minutes.
Now using an assortment of brushes, agitate the product. This will ensure you reach deep in the fibers.
If you have a deep stain or salt, it might be necessary to use something a bit stronger. My personal preference is Simple Green diluted 1:10 or diluted 1:1 in really bad cases. Spray, let sit and then agitate.
This process may take time and effort, but the results are well worth it.
