At Mendez Detailing we like to use Invisible Glass by Stoner. It doesn't streak and it's ammonia free. Regular Windex contains ammonia that can damage window tints.
We recommend using blue shop towels that are designed for glass. They are lint free and leave no streaks.
Often overlooked, the wiper blades can get very dirty. When it rains, the dirt won't allow the wipers to glide smoothly and will also get the windshield dirty again.
I learned this tip recently and I was very happy with the results. Adding WD-40 to the springs will help the arm move more freely and make better contact with the windshield when it's raining.
Glass is very durable and hard to scratch. However, it will still benefit from a good sealant to keep it clean for longer. We use Griot's Glass Sealant. To apply on a clean windshield, place on a cloth and wipe in vertical overlapping lines. Let it sit for a couple of minutes until it haze's. Then apply again in horizontal overlapping lines to make sure every part of the windshield is covered. Finally, once it hazes again you can buff it off.
A clean windshield is important in all times of the year. Especially with a Glass Sealant, the windshield will bead rain off, will help avoid bug guts from sticking on and help with ice in the winter.
